To replace the standard battery upper mount and lock you will need the following tools:
Small Philips screwdriver
2.5 mm Allen Key
24mm Socket or adjustable wrench
To start remove the battery and turn on the display to discharge excess electricity in the system - this is an important step so you don't damage the electronics system of the bike or shock yourself!
Remove this screw with a Philips screwdriver and slide off the cover that screw was holding in.
Remove these two screws using a Phillips screwdriver for the top screw and a 2.5mm Allen Key for the lower screw. Make sure to keep track of these screws and which one goes where.
Slide out the locking mount.
Remove the silver lockring with the 24mm socket.
With this lockring removed the power connector can be removed from the battery lock as seen in this picture below.
Now slide this power connector into the new lock assembly.
Thread the lockring on to the power connector, first by hand then use the 24mm socket to tighten it. Make sure the pins are correctly orientated while tightening - the nub on the inside of the power connector port should be facing upward like in the image below. THIS MUST BE ALIGNED PROPERLY FOR YOUR BATTERY TO FIT INTO THE BIKE!
With the power connector snugly installed with the locking tightened and correctly orientated slide the locking assembly back into place.
With the locking assembly back in place reinstall the screws you removed and put the small plastic cover back in. Check that your battery installs before putting away your tools. If it does not check the orientation of the power connector - if it is not correct remove the locking assembly and re orientate the power connector.
