Intro

Keeping your eBike clean will help prolong its life and keep it looking good while you ride!

You should have the following items to fully clean your eBike:

  • Microfiber/soft cloths that will not scratch your bike

  • Sponges

  • A Soft-bristled brush

  • A  bucket or bin to put water in

    • We recommend warm water for cleaning your bike

  • Bike cleaning solution or bike cleaning soap

    • Dish soap would also work but we recommend a soap formulated for cleaning bikes - it will work better to keep your paint finished nicely and be tougher on dirt, grime and grease that may be on your bike!

Step 1: Preparation

To prepare your eBike for cleaning start by taking the following steps:
  • Remove the batteries from your bike!!!
    • You do not want to get these wet. If there is some dirt and grime on them wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately after!
    • If you have a Range Extender Battery and bracket for it we recommend you remove the bracket as well while cleaning your bike - you do not want water to get on the contacts!
  • Cover your display with a plastic bag, plastic wrap, or ziplock bag to ensure no water gets into it
    • Water inside of your display can cause problems with the operation of your bike! If your display has some dust or grime on it wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately after!
  • Prepare your water buckets
    • Biktrix recommends having two buckets - one with soapy water and one with clean rinse water.
    • If you are using a cleaning spray then just one bucket of water is necessary!

Step 2: Washing

  • Take your cloth, soak it in your bucket of cleaner and wring it out so it is damp but not dripping wet. Then wipe away the grime on your bike, methodically moving from one part of the bike to the next
    • We recommend working from the outer edges moving in but do whatever works best for you!
    • If you are using spray-on cleaner no need to get the cloth wet first - spray cleaner onto your bike then use the cloth to clean!
    • Rinse the cloth off in the clean rinse water after you remove grime with it to keep that grime from scratching up your paint!
  • Make sure to clean under and around your fenders and or chainguard (if you have one)!
  • For any tougher grit and grime use the soft-bristled brush to loosen it, then a cloth to wipe it away

Step 3: Drying

  • Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe down the bike after washing to ensure the bike frame is all dried off!
    • Drying the bike will ensure the bike stays clean for longer and that all other parts will work optimally.
  • Remove any protective coverings from your display and reinstall your battery when the bike is all dried off!
  • Go ride your nice and clean bike!
