Our e-bikes have been ridden from -30C (pretty common here in Saskatchewan) to +50C(we have some customers in Dubai) (-22F to 122F)
It is always prudent to charge batteries at room temperature. While parking bikes in the sun, the surface temperatures on the bike and batteries can sometimes get very high - in this situation it is recommended to bring batteries indoors.
When storing bikes for winter or prolonged periods of non-riding, the best practice is to charge the battery at least once every couple of months for at least a few mins.
Are Biktrix bikes weatherproof?
Our bikes have been ridden in really rough conditions, such as rainstorms and snowstorms, and have performed without any issues. Our motors are IP65 (dust and water) certified. That being said, our motors and batteries should never be completely submerged in water.
Are Biktrix bikes rust-proof?
Our bikes are built with 6061T2 Aluminum - this is the same material used to build most high-end bikes and aircraft panels. The Aluminum itself is rust-proof, however, all bikes, such as ours, use steel chain and drive-train components that are prone to deterioration if not oiled and maintained regularly. They must be cleaned and maintained to avoid rust, just like you would on any regular bike.
Do Biktrix ebikes include throttle and Pedal Assist?
All of our bikes come with Pedal Assist System (PAS). Most of our bikes also come with the Throttle, please refer to each product's Features/ Specs list for more accurate information.
Our bikes come standard with a 2A, 3A or 4A charger. Charging time depends on the size of the battery (Ah) and the size of the charger (2A, 3A, or 4A).
With the standard 2A charger, an 11.6Ah battery completely recharges in about 3-4 hours.
Does Biktrix support regenerative braking?
No. Our bikes do not support regen.
We strongly believe that the cost does not justify the benefit. We found that e-bikes simply don’t have enough inertia or speed to support regenerative braking like most hybrid cars. Some people claim that they get about 10-15% more mileage from their regenerative braking systems. Frankly, instead of spending $500+ for a regenerative braking system, you could pay $200+ to upgrade your battery to over 30% capacity.
Does the battery recharge when riding my Biktrix e-bike?
No. Using the battery's motor to recharge the battery is called regenerative braking as explained above.
Can I buy a battery for a Biktrix e-bike from other vendors?
Sure, you can but you may also purchase a replacement from Biktrix directly.
When you shop around, make sure you ask for batteries with premium Samsung or Panasonic cells. Another thing to look out for is to ensure the nominal voltage of the battery matches the nominal battery requirements of our bike. For example, the Juggernaut mid-drives run on 48V batteries while some of the older Stunner (pre-2017) runs on 36V batteries. It is important to match the nominal battery voltage of the bikes.
Will I receive tools with my Biktrix purchase?
We include basic Allen wrenches with our bikes.
What is the advantage of a Full Suspension E-bike?
A rear suspension model makes a rider lose forward momentum easier due to bounce. This set-up is not recommended for street commuting.
For off-road, however, the rear suspension makes for a very cushy ride.
